Well defined goals are like a roadmap. They help us identify where we want to go and outline exactly how we should go about getting there. If you wanted to travel across the country and get to a specific place and time, you wouldn’t just hop in your car and drive. You’d need to plan the trip. What roads do I take, when should I arrive, where do we get gas, food and so on? Many businesses achieve success without using formal goal setting, but those who consistently prevail have developed a specific plan; they had a roadmap. A roadmap provides direction, feedback, and support. A Centivity MAP is like a travel itinerary; it is an outline of where you want to go. Some goals are like checkpoints along the way that provide feedback as to whether or not you are making progress. The Centivity MAP also helps provide a sense of support when the going gets rough, when you might otherwise throw in the towel or settle for less.

Why use a roadmap

Your Centivity MAP will build healthy and productive habits into your organization. It will help your organization be more productive. By breaking down the goals into easy to understand tasks, you increase productivity and improve accountability. "You eat an elephant one bite at a time." It’s easy to set goals that choose a general destination: I want to increase sales; to improve the bottom line. The magic of goal setting happens when you pay attention to the smaller details during the journey. To increase sales, you may need to improve targeting of your key accounts or increase same account sales. Effective goals begin when you start working on the yearly, monthly, weekly, and daily goals that lead you to the big ones.
